The draft EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive: what legal consequences on companies and board members?
On 23 February 2022, the EU Commission presented the much-awaited proposal for a directive on corporate sustainability due diligence which is intended to impose new obligations on large companies, their subsidiaries and their value chains to identify, prevent and tackle adverse human rights and environmental impacts.
During this joint ecoDa and Crowell & Moring webinar, our multi-jurisdictional panel of speakers, will take a look at this new EU legal instrument, and explain the core principles it establishes and compare it with the rapidly evolving ESG regulatory framework in the US. More importantly, the panelists will investigate what could be the likely consequences of this extensive due diligence duty in terms of companies and directors’ liability, as well as litigation risks. Finally, the experts will underline why it is important for companies to be aware of their future due diligence obligations and already take the necessary steps for compliance.
